Lance

IMG_9984 I recently went in search of honey buns from Lance because it had been a long time since I had one. I’ve been living across the country for the last two years and they’ve always reminded me of my childhood in North Carolina.

I reached out to Lance on their Facebook page and got a very quick response. Unfortunately they let me know that the honey buns had been discontinued. They so kindly asked if there was another snack that I enjoyed, that reminded me of home, that they could send me. I’ve always loved the Toast Chee crackers, so I mentioned those and they got my contact info.

The package from Lance arrived today and I was so excited to open it! Along with a very sweet, hand written note, Lance so generously included variety packs of their other crackers and whole grain, peanut butter, mini crackers. I was so touched by their generosity and the fact that they went out of their way to send me a package, when it was something they didn’t have to do.

Cheese Boards

cheese board

After getting a new camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR,  I knew that I really wanted to recreate some of my past photos. Especially this cheese board that I posted a couple weeks ago. I found the perfect cutting board last month to use for my cheese boards or veggies platters. It’s small, but substantial enough to hold quite a bit of food. The cutting board is made from acacia wood and it seems quite sturdy, but not heavy or bulky at all.

I used some of the same types of food in this cheese board but there are a couple of different things. It’s a perfect snack when entertaining and I love the mix of different meats, cheeses, crackers, and fruit. I like to keep it pretty simple but the ideas are endless. In case you’re interested in replicating this at home here is a list of what I used.

    • Alouette Double Cream Brie
    • Columbus Meats Prosciutto Mozzarella Panino
    • Boar’s Head Havarti Dill Cheese
    • Mario Green Olives
    • Driscoll’s Raspberries
    • Sliced French Bread
    • Target Market Pantry Colby Jack Cheese
    • Target Water Crackers
    • Applegate Salami
    • Pretty Lady Grapes
    • Optional rosemary sprigs for garnish

Egg Salad

egg salad 1

Earlier this summer I had some incredible egg salad on toast, topped with chilled asparagus, during a full tea service at The Flour Box Tea Room & Cafe.  It had such a light and fluffy texture, unlike any that I had ever eaten before.

I have to admit that I am not typically someone that goes out of their way to eat or even make egg salad regularly. But after finding this great recipe for egg salad from The Diary of a Real Housewife. I tweaked a few things for my own tastes this is definitely something I’ll be making more often!

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Boil your eggs. Place all of the eggs in a pot, fill it about halfway with cold water. Bring to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to low and allow to cook for about 15 minutes.
  2. Drain the hot water. Next place the eggs into a bowl with ice water and allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Once your eggs have cooled, it is time to peel them. Then place the peeled eggs in a mixing bowl. I prefer to use a potato masher to mash my eggs but you can also use a fork to mix and mash them.
  4. Add the seasonings, mayo, mustard, and whipped cream cheese. Stir until thoroughly mixed.
  5. Allow the egg salad to chill for several minutes or serve immediately with bread of your choice.
  6. This step is optional, if you’d like the chilled asparagus tips for garnishing. Boil asparagus tips for 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to chill in the refrigerator. Cut the asparagus tips to the length of your bread and place on top of the egg salad.

Solar Eclipse and Krispy Kreme

20914400_1584566021614100_8021592687402264469_n

The solar eclipse is happening today! I had seen advertisements online for Krispy Kreme‘s glazed chocolate “eclipse” donuts recently and wanted to grab a few while I was out. I stopped after going grocery shopping earlier this afternoon and they were, not surprisingly, all sold out. I kind of figured they all got bought out yesterday and this morning.

I picked up two chocolate iced glazed with sprinkles instead. Krispy Kreme never disappoints so it was worth it. Want to find out more about the eclipse? Go here!

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day

20915135_1583662511704451_9000915873768321054_n

I’ve seen Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products in nearly every grocery or big box store that I frequent, and I cannot believe I’ve waited until recently to try them. They are absolutely amazing!

I was at Target this week and saw the honeysuckle scent that I’d seen on their Facebook page previously. I’m a sucker for a good scent and after a quick whiff, I knew that I needed these products in my life. I purchased the multi-surface cleaner, hand soap, dish soap, and the daily bar soap.

These products work just as good as they smell too! In the past I have tried things that either work well, with a less than pleasant scent or they have a good scent and fail to perform. Mrs. Meyers does both!

I was super excited to get home and clean the kitchen so I could use the multi-surface cleaner. A little definitely goes a long way and even though the scent is pleasantly strong, it’s not overpowering at all. Greasy residue wiped away instantly on the stove and in the microwave. It also worked great on countertops and in the sink.

I don’t handwash dishes but often times there are pots, pans, or a crockpot that are too big for the dishwasher that need to be washed by hand. The dish soap was perfect for these. I loved that it’s gentle on my hands as well. It didn’t leave them dry like a lot of other dish soaps have.

I knew that the handsoap would be great, just from what I had experienced with the dish soap so far. It lived up to my expectations and I love that the singer lingers on my hands. I’ll definitely be getting the hand lotion too.

Mrs. Meyers also does seasonal scents. I’m looking forward to trying the apple cider because it seems like the perfect fall scent! Want to find out where Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day is sold near you? Check out their website and enter your zipcode at the top left to find a store near you. They also offer their products online as well.

Candy Grapes

IMG_2322

I have been obsessed with candy grapes this summer. Frozen fruit is such a delicious and refreshing snack during the summer. They’re also quick and easy too. Candy grapes are grapes that have been tossed with jello powder. You can also use sugar free jello to cut back on some calories.

I found raspberry lemonade jello at my local Target and it tastes so good on green grapes. I’m really looking forward to trying other flavors of jello for these as well. I prefer to freeze an entire bag or bunch of grapes for the week, rather than in small portions. That makes it easier for snacking.

The Simply Good Raspberry Jello comes in 3 oz packets and I typically use anywhere from 1/3 – 1/2 of the packet. You might need a little more or a little less, just depending on how much you’d like for them to be coated.

Even though these are frozen, I have yet to have any problems with them being too hard to eat straight out of the freezer. Brain freeze is a different story, so make sure you pace yourself on this delicious snack!

Ingredients:

  1. Seedless grapes
  2. Jello of your choice

1. Remove grapes from their stems, rinse in a colander, and then put them in a gallon size bag.

2. Add 1/3 of your dry jello powder to the bag. Seal the bag up and shake until all grapes are coated. If you feel that they need a little more jello, feel free to do so to your liking.

3. Place the bag flat in your freezer and allow them to chill until completely frozen. I usually freeze mine overnight but a couple hours should also be sufficient.
